If you’ve heard about Modak and are wondering how you can start using this innovative Web3 service, then you’re at the right place. This guide will give you a step-by-step overview of how you can join the revolutionary communication system.
The process is really simple and getting started is almost as easy as installing an app from your mobile’s official app store. All you have to do to become a Modak family member is to follow the three steps outlined in this post.
Step 1: Sign Up
Modak offers two sign up options to its users. You can either:
- Connect through your Google, Twitter, Apple, or Facebook account.
- Connect through your blockchain wallet.
For the first option, all you have to do is take the following steps:
Click on the big orange button situated at the centre of the screen with white text that reads, “+ Create Modak”.
Sign in through your Google, Twitter, Apple, or Facebook account. The Modak platform doesn’t have any preference. So no matter which account you choose to sign up through, you’ll be offered the same service.
For the second option, take the following steps for a successful sign up:
Click on the “Connect Wallet” button located at the top of the screen.
A pop up form will be displayed. At the bottom of this form, there will be a red button with white text that reads, “Connect With Wallet”. Click on this button.
Now, you will be presented with an option to connect your Torus wallet. It’s a simple one-click method.
If you’re not familiar with Torus, it’s the most popular one-click crypto wallet. It enables one-click login for Web3 applications like NFT platforms and decentralized crypto exchanges. Setting up a Torus wallet is really straightforward. You can do it in a couple of simple steps explained here.
Step 2: Join or Create a Chatroom
Once you’re connected to the Modak platform, you can access the video chat options.
As with any Web2 video chat service that most people are accustomed to like screen share, you can create your own room by ‘+Create Modak’ and send the link to people you would like to invite.
Or you can also join an existing chat room by entering its ID.
When starting a new chat room, you must put the Meeting name.
As of now, ‘room type’ and ‘No. of Participants’ are fixed at [Meeting] and [~10]. The rest of the feature is currently disabled, however, we are working to release those features in the future as well.
You can hit ‘Join Now’ button to start new meeting.
Before starting the video chat, or even during chat, you can opt to switch your camera/mic on or off. So you can only converse with your voice if you’re not in the mood for a video conversation.
As explained earlier, you can click on the clipboard icon and you’ll be able to see the Room ID.
You can tap on the ‘copy’ to get the entire URL to the room, or drag and copy the ID.
Step 3: Collect Your $WOOD
After finishing your chat, your $WOOD rewards is calculated and you’ll be able to claim it the next day.
✅ Note: Modak follows UTC time so you should be able to claim your $WOOD past 23:59 of UTC time of the day you had the video chat.

Although rewards systems can sometimes be gamed, Modak believes using $WOOD to spotlight real merit will organically improve the community’s health.
So that’s how the new Web3 communication network works. Now, before finishing up this post, we want to briefly discuss the diverse features offered by Modak.
Other features
So on your video chatroom, you’ll see different icons on the bottom. Let me go through each to walk you through.
1.timestamp: shows how long you’ve been chatting
2. Clipboard icon: lets you to copy the URL to your chatroom to invite others
3. Vid icon: click this and you can enable/disable camera
4. Mic icon: you can turn on/off your mic
5. End Call: careful before hitting this one because it finishes the talk!
6. Screen share icon: You can share your other tab of your browser (i.e. chrome, edge, etc.)
7. Chat bubble: if you click this you’ll see.. something like below!
